13001400 Navajo and Apache tribes arrive in the Southwest from northern regions.
1500–1700 Spanish explorers, then missionaries and colonists, arrive in the Southwest and Florida.
1607 England establishes its first permanent settlement at Jamestown, Virginia.
1620 Pilgrims from England arrive in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
