Cool & soft

y Take a close look at your hair colour, either in natural sunlight or under a spotlight. Does it have ash tones to it?

/ Does your skin tone have a softness to it?

y Are your eyes light blue or green?

y Do the colour test with lavender and fuchsia, and then with amethyst and plum: go to page 33. You should find that you look best in the softer shades of lavender and amethyst, rather than the stronger fuchsia and plum.

Your secondary characteristic is soft. Your additional colours will add a lightness and softness to your main palette that will complement your cool colouring.

Your additional colours

As a Cool and Soft, you can now add these 12 extra shades to your master palette. When you are wearing black, soften the look by using soft pale colours, such as bluebell, powder pink or eau de nil, near your face.

Your face

%/ The overall look of your make-up should be cool, using blue-based shades to balance your dominant colouring.

>/ For eye pencils try amethyst or granite.

y Accent eye shadows such as heather, smoke and grey-blue shades will work well with opal, lilac or pewter greys.

y Your blusher will need cool pink undertones; candy or rose will suit you.

y Cool soft shades of lip pencil work best: try rose or pink.

y Balance your whole look with lipstick in all shades of cool pinks and mauves, such as bonbon, soft mauve, silk or soft berry shades.

Your hair

y Your hair will be dark blonde to light brown or a soft silvery grey.

y The ash tones in your hair mean that you have the advantage of greying gracefully, but you may find that you need to add a little more colour to your look by using brighter make-up or by wearing colours with more contrast.

y If you decide to colour your hair, make sure that you use platinum or ash tones, and avoid red tints.
