Lean Body Mass Calculation

Use the following equations to determine various body mass calculations for yourself.

  1. 1.    Total body weight × body fat percentage = pounds of fat.
  2. 2.    Total body weight − pounds of fat = lean body mass. Remember, the sample person weighs 200 pounds at 15 percent body fat.
  3. 3.    200 × 0.15 (15 percent) = 30 pounds of fat.
  4. 4.    200 pounds − 30 pounds = 170 pounds lean body mass.
