Charleston, South Carolina, bustles with activity year-round. However, from the end of May through the beginning of June, Charleston is busier than ever due to the annual seventeen-day Spoleto Festival. If you are a lover of performing arts, this is a Charleston attraction you won’t want to miss, with daily concerts and plays hosted at some of the city’s most renowned venues.

The festival ends in style, with a huge outdoor concert at Middleton Place, a national historic landmark. The gates open for the finale around 3:00 p.m., giving visitors time to tour the sixty-five acres of grounds, known as “America’s oldest landscaped gardens,” as well as the house museum before settling into their lawn chairs for a picnic and concert at dusk. But the fun doesn’t stop with the concert itself; following the live music is a spectacular fireworks show to conclude the evening. A fitting grand finale for such an incredible festival of the arts.
