Burning Vision was commissioned by Rumble Theatre and developed in partnership with Playwrights’ Workshop Montreal (PWM). The play was developed through residences at Rumble, Playwrights’ Workshop, and at the Banff Playwright’s Colony. Several workshops of Burning Vision have been conducted: a first reading of scenes in June 2000 during Playwrights’ Workshop’s National Women’s Writers’ Unit, a dramaturgical workshop in April 2001 with Rumble and PWM in Vancouver, readings in September 2001 at Banff, and a design workshop in January 2002 with Rumble and PWM in Vancouver. Throughout the development process, dramaturgy has been provided by Paula Danckert of Playwrights’ Workshop Montreal and direction by Peter Hinton.
