Our family dog, Lucky, slows me down when life gets complicated and reminds me that events are only as complex as I make them. He will place his head on my lap, and as I gently stroke him, he will release a deep sigh, taking all my stress away. He makes me enjoy the simple moments in life, like walking outside on a warm spring day or running across a rolling meadow. His pleasure in doing things for fun puts my life into perspective. I don’t want to spend my life doing something I hate in order to obtain material possessions. Lucly is a constant reminder that I don’t have to.
