Epilogue

Eight weeks along. Brandi confirmed it, re-testing herself before she’d made an appointment with her doctor. And now, walking out of the clinic, she could hardly hold still. She couldn’t wait to tell Blaze. He kept insisting she was pregnant ever since the morning she woke up and had thrown up at the smell of fried bacon – her favorite. But he was at work. Today the building he’d bought was being gutted out to make way for his new training facility.

It was going to be one of its kind in Northern Colorado where anyone who needed elite military-style training could join. He already had a stack of memberships from people ranging from law enforcement to personal security who would be joining to keep up-to-date on the latest techniques of personal combat training.

She would just have to pay him a visit. This couldn’t wait. She was beyond ecstatic. Amber and Gage were a few months ahead of them in the pregnancy department and Marilyn and Blake, well, Jean Harlow was just a little over two and a half months old.

She couldn’t believe they were all so lucky to have babies who would be close in age! After what felt like an eternity, she pulled up to the large warehouse that would soon be packed with a variety of workout equipment, various obstacle courses and of course, Windsor’s very first shooting range.

The warehouse was located just North of Main Street, coincidentally sitting about a half a mile behind Blake’s brewery. It was the perfect location due to the fact that there weren’t any other businesses or subdivisions near it. It had been built right at the end of the big boom in real estate about eight years ago, thinking it was going to be used as an indoor soccer arena. When the economy went south, the owner never had a chance. The building had sat there like a sore thumb. Surprisingly sound and intact, it had been the perfect size for Blaze’s new program.

She jumped out of her car, put on the pink hard hat Blaze insisted she needed should she step foot onto the premises, and made her way to the front. She saw him before he saw her. His back was to her as she made her way through the double doors and she took in his fantastic physique. His broad shoulders, narrow hips and the snug shorts he wore that showcased his fine ass, took her breath away. That was her baby’s father and he was male perfection.

His head was tilted to the side, his yellow hard hat slung low across his forehead and he held a clipboard in his hand as he spoke with another man. The man must’ve mentioned her presence because Blaze turned around and gave her his signature heart-melting smile that instantly made her panties damp with need.

She waved and smiled. She really wanted to fling herself into his arms but didn’t want to make him uncomfortable in front of the crew.

“Hey Red. What’d I ever do to be so lucky to get you?”

She laughed, “I’ve been asking myself that same thing on the drive over here. I have exciting news.”

The drone of construction equipment made their conversation a little difficult, “Let’s go outside.”

She nodded her head in agreement and hand in hand they made their way out the doors she’d just come in.

“It’s noisy in there.”

“They’re getting a lot done. But who cares about that, tell me the news you have.”

He pulled her into his chest whispering how sexy she looked in her hard hat before pulling if off her head. She wrapped her arms around his neck. and she couldn’t help nibbling on his ear before she whispered, “I’m pregnant.”

“Yes!” He picked her up and swung her around in circles before setting her back down, “I’m going to be a dad!”

“Yes you are, Captain.”

“We’re going to be parents! I knew it! It was that day in the hospital, wasn’t it? I could feel it deep in my soul. I love you Mrs. Soon-to-be Brandi Bryant. I love you more than anything in this world. I love you and I love our baby. Or babies.”

He dropped to his knees in the damp soil and began kissing her belly through the thin fabric of her tank top. She threw her head back, gazing at the endless sky above her and thanked her lucky stars for all of her many blessings.
