Tim Harford is an economist, columnist and broadcaster. He writes a weekly column in the Financial Times called ‘The Undercover Economist’. He also writes the only economics-based problem page in the world, ‘Dear Economist’, in which readers’ personal problems are answered, tongue-in-cheek, with the latest economic theory. Tim presents Radio 4’s guide to numbers in the news and in life, More or Less, and was the presenter of a TV series for BBC2 called Trust Me, I’m an Economist. Tim has worked at the World Bank, Shell and on the editorial board of the Financial Times. He is a visiting fellow at Cass Business School, London, and at Nuffield College, Oxford. He was the winner of the Bastiat prize for economic journalism in 2006 and runner-up in 2010, and with the team from More or Less he won the Royal Statistical Society’s prize for excellence in journalism in 2010. Tim’s other books include The Undercover Economist, The Logic of Life and Dear Undercover Economist. He lives in London with his wife and two daughters.
