Jase spent Sunday giving the cabin a good cleaning, though it was already tidy, doing laundry, and reading. He was blatantly avoiding the outdoors and any chance of bumping into Aisha. He wanted to show he’d heard her and that he’d respect her boundaries. He also thought it would be good for Callum to see he was honoring the conditions of their agreement.
He tried not to think about his initial reaction to Callum’s notice about enforced days off: a body buzzing anticipation at the idea that maybe he and Aisha could go on weekly outings of some kind. With that daydream shot to heck, Jase had no idea what he’d do with time off every week, but he guessed he’d find something.
Sighing, he put his book down. He hadn’t been concentrating on the thriller for the last chapter or so, anyway. And he shouldn’t delay any longer. It was nearly the end of the weekend. He’d better get busy and text Colton.
He scrounged around for his phone, hoping with all his might that Colton was feeling extra lazy, was all wrapped up in some new distraction in town, or, even better, would announce he was hitting the road with someone else. If he would just decline Callum’s offer . . . Please.
