SOMETHING TO ACT AS A BASE—A CANDLESTICK, GLASS, OR BOWL WORKS WELL | |
E6000 GLUE |
This one takes a page right out of Modern Hostessing 101, if I do say so myself! With an assortment of materials and the right glue, you can turn pretty much any plate into a custom cake stand. In this case, I used different objects to create a white base: For one stand, I used a candlestick; then an upside-down mug for another; and three owl-shaped salt shakers for the third!
STEP 1: Squeeze E6000 glue onto the top of your base. This is where the plate will connect, so make sure to test your combination out beforehand to check that the plate balances.
STEP 2: Turn the base upside down and press it firmly onto the bottom of the plate.
You can follow the same process with a ceramic cup.
STEP 3: Be sure to let your cake stands dry overnight before using them. Then feel free to serve up cupcakes, macarons, and fruit tarts, oh my!
