CHAPTER 5

After learning about her lineage, vampires, and three incredibly hot men all wanting her, Sadie needed time to decompress. She was grateful to have a room to herself. A part of her wanted to leave to go home and pay the men visits, but the other part wanted to stay and see where this adventure would take her.

She imagined herself as one of her characters in a story. What would they do? The female would remain at the home to find out more about her history, what’s in store for her if she accepts the position as their blood demon, and what would come of her future.

The realist in her, though, screamed to get out and go home. She didn’t have family members to call on and to check in with. She had a few friends, but no one she kept close. Everyone was always kept at an arm’s length. It just worked out best for her that way. If she protected her heart, then no one would break it.

Last night, Sadie spent most of the night in her luxury Jacuzzi. The jets were welcoming and as she thought of the men, she had two orgasms; one for William and one for Charles. She was still not sure about Adam, although the man was sexier than sin. Something about him, though, still turned her off.

She opened the curtains in her room and looked out over the lawn. There was an Olympic sized pool in the back and a water fountain behind it. If she were to stay here a few more days, she wanted to go swimming, preferably with the men.

The sun was warm on her skin and she closed her eyes, loving the heat on her face. She thought of the vampires in the house and the sun.

Were the legends true?

Could they walk in the sun or would they burn?

It was a question to ask.

She pulled clean undergarments for the day and laid them on her bed. She headed to the bathroom and turned on the shower. Soon, hot water began to pour out and steamed the area. She adjusted the shower, removed her pajamas, then stepped under the warm spray. The showerhead was square and rained down water upon her body. There were six more knobs to turn and curious to what they all did, she twisted them.

Each sprayed onto her body in different directions and formations. It was wonderful and next to the heads was a removable head.

She could live in this shower.

Almost an hour later, she finished up and walked out with a towel around her hair and another around her body. She opened the wardrobe and perused the clothes. Opting for a dress today, she pulled out a sage green, vintage style dress. The top was fitted where the bottom flowed loose. It was paired with a tulle skirt underneath.

She dressed herself and slipped on a pair of black pumps. She styled her hair with mousse and left it down today. Her curls weren’t too unruly, thankfully. A little makeup later, she was ready to go downstairs.

Finding the dining room empty today, she followed the path toward the kitchen. Her stomach growled and when she stepped into the room, she froze.

Charles turned and his lips formed a smile.

“Oh, I didn’t mean to interrupt,” she started. “I was hoping to make something to eat.”

“You’re welcome to make whatever you like, so long as I can watch.”

His voice was sexy in his Australian accent. She could listen to him talk all day. She smiled. “Sure, so longas you talk to me while I prep and cook.”

“Ace, the kitchen is all yours.” Charles took a seat on a barstool behind the kitchen island. Above the stove hung pots and pans. The countertop had a carousel of utensils.

She picked a pan, spatula, and tongs. She set them down and opened one of the cabinets. “Where would I find cooking spray?”

“The cabinet next to you,” Charles answered.

She found the spray and went to the fridge. She pulled out two eggs, some bacon, and cheese. She set up everything and began to prep.

“What’cha cooking?”

“Scrambled eggs, bacon, and I will sprinkle cheese over the eggs.” She glanced over to Charles and enjoyed his intensity as she prepped. He looked interested in what she was doing. “Would you like some?”

“Nah, I don’t eat food to survive, although I could, but it would be like eating that fungus shit people call food in place of a good roo steak.”

“Roo steak? Fungus shit? Do you mean mushrooms?”

“Kangaroo, and well, that, but also the spongy crap people call food.”

“Oh, tofu?”

“Yeah, gross shit.”

She laughed and beat her eggs. Setting them aside, she set the temperature for the burner and laid out three pieces of bacon across the pan. She put everything back into the fridge as the bacon began to crisp.

“So, Charles, what do you do fora living?”

“I do recreational work for the covenant.”

“What does that mean?” She flipped her bacon and beat her eggs once more. She pulled the bacon from the pan and placed them on a waiting plate. She then poured the eggs into the hot greased pan.

“I do whatever they need. If it’s to hunt down a rouge vampire, I do it. If it’s looking for a long lost blood demon?” She glanced his way and he winked. “I do it.”

“Did you know about me and come looking?”

“Nah, doll, I didn’t. We happened across circumstance. Well, William did. He heard your screams and pulled the vampire off of you.”

She shuddered, the memory of that day replaying over in her mind.

“So, what did you do before becoming a vampire?” She finished her eggs and scooped them onto her plate, then sprinkled cheese over the top. She cleaned up her mess and brought the food over to the kitchen island. She took a bite and waited for Charles to continue.

“I was a surfer in Australia.”

“Really? I guess I thought it started more as a twentieth century sport.”

“Professionally, yeah, I suppose. There were Europeans on a ship in 1767 in Tahiti and that was the first time they ever saw something like this. Research dates to ancient Polynesian cultures that existed long ago. According to many myths, the chief of a tribe was the man who could surf the best.”

“Wow, that’s very interesting.”

“Have you ever surfed?”

She shook her head no. “I swim and that’s about it. I can dive off the side of a pool, but I’ve never tried it on a diving board.”

“Ahh, are you a Sheila?”

She swallowed her bite and frowned. “I’m not sure what you mean?”

“Are you scared to surf or dive?”

She shrugged and took a bite of bacon. “I don’t know. I’m having breakfast with a vampire and I’m not scared. Should I fear the water?”

Charles was up and around the table before she could take her next bite. “You shouldn’t fear the water but what’s in the water, love. Never forget anything with teeth...” He grinned, his fangs on display. “...can and will bite when provoked.”

Having one or two bites left, she dropped her fork to the plate. Charles stared into her eyes; his light blue irises were beautiful. They were deep pools of an unknown depth she longed to plunge herself into.

She took in a breath and a step back. “What happens if you don’t feed?”

“We survive off blood. Your blood type, love. We never age and never die. However, if we don’t feed, then we will begin to deteriorate. We’ll be driven mad with thirst and starvation. Eventually, we’ll either attack for a food source, regardless of what it is, or we’ll begin to petrify.”

She swallowed hard and as she took a step back, Charles stalked forward. “You’ll turn to stone?”

“No, not quite. Think of it more like turning into a prune.”

“Is that what was happening to the man who bit me that day in the alley?”

“I don’t think he was quite petrified yet, but he had probably been without blood for a week or two.”

Sadie stopped backing away and Charles moved in front of her, placing a hand on either side of her on the kitchen island. He leaned in toward her neck and inhaled a long breath.

“You smell amazing, Sadie. You are beautiful, sensual, and a seductress.”

She smiled and rested her palms on his chest. His muscles moved underneath her touch. “Thank you.”

“So, you’re good with everything you’ve learned so far?”

He pushed her hair behind her back and ran his nose up the length of her neck. “I could devour you now.”

She sighed and tilted her head to the side, exposing more of her neck. “Okay.” She would do just about anything right now to keep this man’s attention. He was sexy, smelled like the ocean, and his accent drove her wild.

“Okay?” he asked.

“Yes.”

“You’re not frightened of us?” He cradled her neck, skimmed his lips across her sensitive flesh.

“Well, I figured if you wanted me dead, you would have drained me by now, not try to seduce me. I’m a blood demon. You’re a vampire. All that’s left is to tell me if there’s fairies in the world.”

“Nah, love, the only fairy around here would be Adam.”

She giggled. “I think he’d fight for calling him that.”

“Yeah, probably, but I don’t care.” Charles pulled back around to her and rested his forehead to hers. “Fuck me, Sadie, you’re a fucking amazing woman. I want more than anything to sink my dick deep inside you while tasting your blood at the same time. I want to taste your pussy and watch you suck my cock.”

Her breath came out in rapid succession as her heart sped in her chest. She was more turned on than she had been in her entire life. She moved her hands up his chest to his neck, then lifted her head up. Their lips met in a collision of seduction, their souls intermingling in a dance of dominance.

He fisted his hands in her hair and tugged her head back, then peppered kisses down her neck to the crest of her breasts. He pulled down the top of her dress and exposed her breast. He sucked her nipple over the thin material of her bra.

“Charles,” she moaned. She wanted more from him. Her panties were wet. “Should we wait for the others?”

He met her gaze as he sucked on her nipple. She gasped and closed her eyes. “Only if you want to fuck right now, love.”

“Shit,” she gasped and tilted her head back.

“I want to touch more of you,” he said and brought his lips back to hers. “Will you let me?”

She nibbled on her lip and wanted to come desperately. She’d brought herself to orgasm, but this was with Charles. “Yes.”

“Ace,” he whispered and kicked her feet apart. He touched the top of her thigh and brought his hand between her legs. He slipped his fingers over the top of her panties and he groaned. “Woman, you’re so wet.”

“Because you’ve turned me on.”

He pressed his fingers against the thin fabric of her panties and teased her clit. She gasped and tilted her head back, then moved her hips in rhythm with his fingers.

“You like that, baby?”

“Yes,” she groaned. “Oh, yes, so much, yes.”

“Then, imagine for a moment all three of us seducing your body. Licking on you, sucking every part of you, fucking that sweet pussy and tight ass.”

Charles was a dirty talker and fuck, if it didn’t turn her on even more. Her heart raced and her pussy was drenched with desire. He pulled her panties to the side and pushed two fingers inside her pussy.

A moan escaped her, and she clung to his shoulders. “Charles, oh God, I’m going to come soon.”

“Yes, baby, give it to me. Come on my hand.”

He pumped in and out of her, drawing her closer to her release. He moved his fingers in a come here motion against the sensitive area in her pussy. Her body quaked and she whimpered his name.

“Please, don’t stop.”

“Come for me, baby. Show me how much you love it.”

“Shit!” The flutter of a tease shattered inside her to a full orgasm. Her body bucked and her nails dug into his flesh. She rode out her desire and, closing her eyes, she held onto the sensation as long as she could.

With a sigh, she opened her eyes and met Charles’s amused stare.

He pulled his fingers from her, then brought them to his lips. He sucked off her orgasm and grinned. “Let me know when you’re ready for round two and for all three of us to taste that sweet pussy of yours.”

A shudder rushed through her and her knees buckled. She held onto the countertop and turned away from him. “I—I will.” She looked back over her shoulder and caught him smiling. He winked at her and sucked on his fingers once more.

He walked out of the kitchen, then stopped and nodded to someone. “She’s ready for you, brother.” Charles looked back into the kitchen, grinned, and left the room.

She straightened her dress and wiped at her mouth. Who the hell was waiting for her? She straightened her hair and when she faced the kitchen entrance, her eyes widened to the man who leaned against the doorframe.

She blinked and her mouth salivated. He wore a light blue, tight-fitted t-shirt with black pants and boots. His shirtsleeves strained against the biceps of his arms, and the thickness of his chest. She stepped around the kitchen island as she folded her hands in front of her body.

“Sadie,” he said, and her name sounded like the sweetest seduction rolling off his tongue.

She swallowed and offered a smile. “Hello, Adam.”
