We began backpacking together more than 25 years ago. Our first trip as a couple was in Shenandoah National Park (we can attest to the state slogan: Virginia truly is for Lovers!). Hiking Virginia was our very first book, the first edition published in 2001. Since then we’ve written numerous travel articles and several books about our state, the Old Dominion.
With this fourth edition, we crossed a major milestone: 25 years exploring and writing about Virginia. We are grateful you have trusted us to take you down the many and varied trails and backroads, blueways, and byways of Virginia.
In the last decade, we’ve added outdoor outfitting to our efforts, guiding people to our favorite places: winter kayak expeditions in the Florida Keys and Everglades from the pages of our Florida Keys Paddling Atlas, paddling and hiking in Virginia spring through fall.
We call home the Eastern Shore of Virginia, within easy reach of both sources of inspiration: ocean and mountains.
You can reach us and follow our adventures at www.burnhamguides.com or on Facebook. We’d love to hear about your adventures!
