^*Robert Maheu has testified that Hughes learned about the existence of Hughes Dynamics quite by accident. The company was making arrangements to share the top floor of a Los Angeles office building with a fashionable restaurant. “Jean [Peters] had gone there for lunch” one day, Maheu said, and the maitre d’ or one of the captains “happened to mention how pleased they were… that her husband was going to occupy the balance of the top floor, whereupon she went home and told him about it and he blew his top…. That is what he told me.”
