I had such fun with this story. Catherine has lurked in my imagination since we met her in Ash and Della’s story, My Heart’s True Delight. I wondered what fellow might come along who could measure up to her wonderful Dorning-ness, and then I met Fournier—shrewd, witty, kind, and always an outsider, no longer entirely by his choice. What’s an author to do but get busy writing a happily ever after for two such deserving people?
The next story in the Mischief in Mayfair series, Miss Dauntless, also circles back to characters we’ve met previously. Matilda Merridew, widow without means, and Marcus, Earl of Tremont, take a liking to one another much to their mutual surprise. Matters are going along quite smoochingly, until Matilda’s past rises from the grave and shatters any hope of a happily ever after. Does love really conquer all? Read on for an excerpt!
Miss Dauntless comes out in November on the retail outlets, but will be available in the webstore (and probably in print) in October.
And no, of course you do not have to wait until November for my next release. Book Seven in the Lady Violet Mystery Series, Lady Violet Pays a Call, comes out in July on the webstore, and in August on the retail outlets. I’ve also included an excerpt from this story below. Yes, it’s a mystery series, but I must have my happily ever afters, too!
And speaking of which… writin’ buddy Christi Caldwell and I are teaming up on a holiday novella duet coming out in late September. Yuletide Gems (working title) is something of a special project for us. Our stories both relate to Regency libraries and the people who love them, and we plan to release this title in two places—on our websites and through public libraries. We’re still hashing out the print angle, but there will be one, promise.
So many happily ever afters, and they are all such a joy to write.
Happy reading!
