CHAPTER SEVEN

Trouble

My mom was standing there in her full hero stance, ready to do battle with Captain Tornado—until she saw me.

Then a car-sized tornado slammed into her, punching her into the wall. “What are you doing here?!” Mom asked. I could tell she hadn’t expected to see me by the shocked look on her face, plus she was yelling. I immediately knew I was in big trouble.

“You know this little hero-in-the-making?” Tornado asked. Mom didn’t answer because it would blow her secret identity. The silence was almost worse. When a mom is silent, it’s never a good thing.

But Mom’s a total professional when it comes to being a hero. So handling Captain Tornado was her first order of business. I may have distracted her, but she recovered fast. She flew at Captain Tornado and grabbed him. “Sorry to put a crimp in your day, but I need to take you to jail.”
