Pure and Natural Cranberry Sauce

Want to cut back on the sugars during the holidays? This is the recipe for you!

Ingredients

Makes 2 cups

4 cups fresh cranberries

3 cups freshly squeezed orange juice

1 tablespoon orange zest

2 tablespoons freshly grated gingerroot

14 teaspoon salt

Add a Touch of Honey

If you don’t have any problems with honey, add 1 tablespoon of raw honey to this recipe. The honey will add a touch of sweetness, while still maintaining the tartness of the cranberries.

  1. Place all the ingredients in a medium saucepan. Cook over high heat until the mixture boils.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 25–30 minutes, or until the cranberries start to dissolve.
  3. Once the cranberries are nice and soft, mash them with a potato masher or fork.
  4. Place in the fridge for 30 minutes. Serve cold.
