Milk Street is located at 177 Milk Street in Boston. It is a real place with a small crew, a cooking school, and a mission—to change how we cook at home. To that end, we produce a magazine, cookbooks such as this one, television and radio shows, kitchen tools and cookware, and live events.
The essence of Milk Street, however, is not its mission; it’s the people. For leading the charge on conceiving, developing and editing Tuesday Nights, I want to acknowledge J.M. Hirsch, our tireless editorial director; Matthew Card, food editor; and Michelle Locke, books and special editions editor. Additional thanks for exacting editorial help from Jenn Ladd, Milk Street’s managing editor.
Also, Jennifer Baldino Cox, our art director; and the entire creative team who deftly captured the look and feel of Milk Street Tuesday Nights. A special thank you to our photo team: Brianna Coleman, associate art director (and props stylist!); Connie Miller, our photographer; and Christine Tobin, our food stylist. This trio of talent created page after page of beautiful images. And a big thank you to Gary Tooth, our book designer.
Also, our team of production cooks and recipe developers kept the bar high, throwing out recipes that did not make the cut and improving those that did. Our in-house team includes Erin Register, Diane Unger, Courtney Hill, Julie Rackow, Phoebe Maglathin and Sarah Gabriel. Our consulting food editors include Dawn Yanighara and Erika Bruce, as well as Guy Crosby, our science editor. Our consulting recipe developers also are a big part of Milk Street, including Elizabeth Germain, Lynn Clark, Bianca Borges, Sandra Rose Gluck, Alison Ladman, Kemp Minifie, Laura Russell, Jeanne Maguire, Joanne Smart, Cristin Walsh and Yvonne Ruperti.
A very special thanks as well to Deborah Broide, Milk Street’s director of media relations. She has done a spectacular job of introducing Milk Street to the world.
We also have a couple of folks to thank who work outside 177 Milk Street. Michael Szczerban, editor, and everyone at Little, Brown and Company have been superb and inspired partners in this project. Yes, top-notch book editors still exist! And my long-standing book agent, David Black, has been instrumental in bringing this project to life both with his knowledge of publishing and bourbon. Thank you, David.
Finally, a sincere thank you to my business partner and wife, Melissa Baldino, who manages our media department, from television to radio to social media. Melissa has nurtured the Milk Street brand from the beginning so that we ended up where we thought we were going in the first place! Thanks.
And, last but not least, to all of you who have supported the Milk Street project. Everyone has a seat at the Milk Street table, so pull up a chair and dig in.
