Think Globally

Happiness in your life doesn’t have to be limited to only you, your loved ones, or your community. Remember, you are part of a large global community as well and their happiness can affect yours. Remember your global community with the mantra, May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.

This mantra reminds us that no one is really free from suffering entirely until we are all free. This is a beautiful chant to teach children or to utilize yourself as a means for increasing happiness worldwide. In light of some of the terror we and our children have been exposed to, whether it’s through media or an actual incident, this chant gives us a tangible tool for moving through the overwhelming feelings these images and experiences bring. Remember, fear cannot survive in love. They cannot both exist.
