Ask for Something

Whether it’s asking a family member to pass a napkin, a friend for a favor, or your husband to take the kids so you can go to yoga, challenge yourself to open your mouth and make a request today. This is related to, but different from, asking yourself what you most need in this moment—it’s taking the insight you gain from a moment of reflection and saying it out loud. Making such a request takes awareness. It also takes allowing yourself to be seen as having needs. Which means it can also take courage (especially if you are an “I can handle it” type). But speaking up will bring you comfort and empowerment.
