Everyone’s got at least one mean voice inside their head. You know, the one who says things like, What were you thinking? Maybe there’s just something wrong with you. You really screwed that one up.
Whenever you’re feeling unhappy and deeply negative, pull back the curtain on your inner critic by drawing a picture of her or him. How old is she? Does she wear glasses? What kinds of clothes do you imagine her in?
If you can personify the voice, you can see that it’s not you. Which means you’ll give her a little less stock the next time she starts in on you.
