Born in Chattanooga in 1940, BARRY MOSER was educated at Auburn University, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and the University of Massachusetts, where he did his graduate studies. His work as illustrator, designer, and printer, which includes the books of Pennyroyal Press, is represented in numerous collections, museums, and libraries in the United States and abroad, among them, the British Museum, the Library of Congress, the New York Public Library, the National Library of Australia, the London College of Printing, the Houghton Library at Harvard University, the Bienecke Library at Yale University, and the Firestone Library at Princeton University. Mr. Moser’s illustrated books form a list of over sixty titles, including the Arion Press Moby Dick, the University of California Press edition of this translation of The Divine Comedy, and the Limited Editions Club of New York edition of Homer’s Odyssey. The Pennyroyal Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was awarded the American Book Award for design/pictorial. An associate of the National Academy of Design, Mr. Moser frequently lectures and acts as visiting artist at universities and institutions across the country. His most ambitious work is the heralded Pennyroyal Caxton Bible in two volumes, with 231 engravings.
