Commonwealth Oversight Committee
Originally founded in Great Britain (Edinburgh, 1798), Thomas Nelson Publishers has never forgotten its British roots. Nelson did not want this to be merely an “American Version,” but like the KJV, one for the whole English-speaking church. For this reason scholars were chosen from England, Scotland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, as well as from the U.S.A. One scholar from Europe (Netherlands) and one from Asia (Taiwan) very appropriately represented the millions who use English beyond the English-speaking countries as such.
An attempt was made to avoid expressions that are current in only one part of the English-speaking community. However, since there are certain expressions and spelling differences that do occur in British and American English, the NKJV is available in both Commonwealth and American editions. The British usage edition is distributed by The Bible Societies.
