Your fishing line is only as strong as the knots used in tying it. All knots weaken line to some degree, and some knots cut the line strength in half.
The knots on the following pages are good choices for the purposes described, though many other knots can be substituted. Avoid using knots that put sharp bends in your line, because those bends may fracture under stress (right).
