Yellow perch rank among the tastiest of freshwater fish, so it’s not surprising that they’re so popular. Closely related to walleyes and saugers, perch live in many of the same waters, but they are rarely abundant where water clarity is very low. Their largest populations are in clear, northern lakes with moderate weed growth, but perch have been stocked in many southern waters.
