THIS EXERCISE OF ARCHITECTURAL EXPLORATION USES CUT AND HOLE-PUNCHED PAPER TO CREATE A VILLAGE. CUT RECTANGLES, TRIANGLES, AND SQUARES ALLOW YOU TO CREATE A VARIETY OF BUILDINGS. A HOLE PUNCH IS USED FOR DECORATIVE TREATMENTS.
MATERIALS
Newspaper or large craft paper
White craft paper, heavy cardstock, or Bristol
Scissors
Black craft paper or heavy cardstock
Hole punch
Craft knife
Inexpensive flat brush for applying decoupage or gel medium
Decoupage or gel medium
1. Cover your work space with newspaper or large craft paper.
2. Place a white sheet of paper on your work surface.
3. With scissors, cut five rectangles of varying sizes out of the black paper.
4. Cut three roof shapes out of the black paper. (See A.)
5. Create decorative detail by hole punching your cut shapes. Hole punch the edges and the centers as well. Cut doorways with a craft knife. (See B.)
6. Place the shapes on the white background to make a village story.
7. Brush decoupage medium onto the backs of your shapes, and glue down your design.
8. Weight under a heavy book until dry.
