Announcement of death of employee or former employee

From Executive Office, Human Resources, or Communications Office to employees

It is with sadness that we report the passing of Tim Hatch, a long-time and valued member of the Consolidated Intergalactic family. Tim, who retired in 2007 after thirty-seven years with the company, began as a clerk in the mailroom in 1970 and rose to become vice president of shipping and fulfillment.

Former CEO Rob Edwards said this about Tim Hatch: “Tim was one of the best of our best for four decades.”

Please join me in passing our heartfelt condolences to his wife Marjorie and their sons and grandchildren.

For those who are interested in attending the memorial services or sending their own remembrances, please see the attached memo about memorial services for Mr. Hatch.

Mary and I, and our children, expect to remain active in community organizations here in Lumber-town and I hope to see all of my friends regularly.

Forming a car pool

From employee to individual

I thought you might like to know that we’re putting together a car pool from Holliston to Lumber-town. I know you live a few miles from Holliston; if you’re interested in joining us please give me a call.

The company will be providing a subsidy to workers who car pool to work, and it will also save us the cost of gas and upkeep. I think it’s a great deal.

You have been my most valuable mentor over the years. I was hoping you would you be willing to spare a few minutes in the next week or so to give me some advice on my career. I have a few decisions I need to make about some advancement opportunities, and I would greatly value hearing your perspective on them.

Request for personal advice

From individual to business contact

Jane and I are considering moving to a new home not far from where you live. I was hoping you would spare a few minutes to give me your opinion of real estate, schools, and the commute to Lumbertown. If you don’t mind, here’s my home phone number: (343) 555-0123. We’re available all weekend and most nights from about 6 to 10 P.M.

Thanks.

Thanks for a gift (within business context)

From individual to business organization

Thank you so much for the commemorative plaque celebrating Consolidated Intergalactic’s fiftieth anniversary of membership in the Lumbertown Chamber of Commerce. We have already enshrined the tablet in a place of honor in our front lobby.

Declining a gift (for business ethics reasons)

From individual to business organization

Thank you for your recent gift of a floral display in celebration of Consolidated Intergalactic’s sixtieth anniversary.

We appreciate your company’s recognition of our birthday. However, it is against CI policy to accept gifts from any of our suppliers. For that reason we have delivered the flowers to the Lumbertown Home for Adults.
