Gail rubbed her hands together enthusiastically. “He bought my story about taking a job out of town, so we’re going to meet up tonight. My message must have left a good impression on him.”
Janet grinned. “Make sure to introduce yourself as Lynn Waters, like always, especially since he’s a cop.”
“Yep, not a problem. I told him I was from Bismarck, North Dakota.”
They both laughed.
Janet lit a cigarette and took a deep drag. “That’s one city and state we’ve never been to.”
Gail continued. “I’ll invite him back here just like the others, and then you can deal with him.”
“Nope, a cop is someone special, so we have to consider him a bonus that we’ll both enjoy. We’ll deal with him together—and do it slowly.”
