Chapter Four

I don’t give a shit,” Dane Magnus, Alpha of the Aspen Valley Pack exclaimed, pounding his down fist on the table. “Garrett and the others may be halfway across the country but we have work to do. This is the best time right now. The governor left about two days ago on a business trip with his wife, so the home is clean.”

Brock, along with his blood brothers and three other crewmembers, were known as the Aspen Valley Outlaws. Only Brock, Dane, and Raoulf were present tonight and seated around an old oak table in Dane’s home.

After Dane rose to Alpha of the Aspen Valley Pack, the ranks had shifted a bit. Dane couldn’t actively run with the outlaws since he had a Pack and Pack lands to protect, but he did give orders. Raoulf became their secondary leader and Brock was third in line after that.

So the only plan you’ve come up with his that we go in his house and raid the shit in his office in search of a safe,” Brock inquired.

That’s the plan we had before.” Dane shrugged. “Fortunately, we have enough informants telling us that the mansion isn’t occupied and won’t be for at least a couple more days.”

How do we know the safe has what we’re looking for in it?” Raoulf asked.

We don’t,” Dane said. “We’re after more than just the safe. We’re going in there and we’re going to confiscate anything we know will be valuable in getting him to stop the imminent domain execution. We all know his legacy isn’t squeaky clean, but if we don’t have concrete evidence then there’s nothing stopping everyone else from shrugging the rumors off their shoulders about their wishy-washy governor.”

And you think they’ll believe us more once we have the agreements we’re looking for?” Brock questioned. “What’s stopping them from calling the papers fictitious? What’s to say that the public won’t continue to label us liars, disregarding anything we present to them?”

Dane shook his head. “You’re getting ahead of yourself. The plan is to get the governor to stop all eminent domain proceedings before we ever present the information to the public. If he wants his reputation to remain squeaky clean, then we want him to leave our properties the hell alone. If he doesn’t comply…”

“…Then you’re suggesting we open up a can of worms,” Raoulf concluded.

Dane nodded. “Damn right, I am. Something tells me that the governor doesn’t want the public to know how wishy-washy he is. He knowingly helped many shifters expand business operations into his hometown county, as well as Tellevue County by approving private funding that fattened his pockets and that of the bank he owns. Now he wants to mimic the eminent domain proceedings of another state and use his governor title to strip it all away from us. I don’t know what the other Packs were up against, but these are our lands and we won’t be moved. That’s not how it works in Aspen Valley.”

We hear you, bro,” Brock said. “Question is…when?”

Tonight,” said the Alpha.
