THE CHOIR OF BELL-FLOWERS

A fragment of a long poem

Tiny Bells,

Bell-flowers,

We praise the day.

We sing,

We greet with ringing:

The day-ding!

The day-dong.

We love the sun,

The sky and sun,

The shadow bright,

Dreams that delight,

Quiet meadows:

Shady-ding!

Shady-dong.

Float on, clouds,

Oh, bring on the torrents,

A clear day.

Sprinkle us,

Bless us,

Day-ding!

Day-dong.

Let the shadow lie down along the field,

The golden field,

The shadow will lie down.

Let the rye sway –

The rye will smile:

Shady-ding!

Shady-dong.
