Dr. Sue Johnson is director of the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy, distinguished research professor in couple and family therapy at Alliant International University in San Diego, California, and professor of clinical psychology at the University of Ottawa, Canada. She is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and has received numerous honors for her work, including the Outstanding Contribution to Marriage and Family Therapy award from the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the Distinguished Contribution to Family Therapy Research award from the American Family Therapy Academy. She is a frequent guest speaker at professional meetings around the globe and trains mental health professionals worldwide in adult attachment and bonding and couple and family interventions. She also is a consultant to numerous organizations, including the U.S. and Canadian military, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and the New York City Fire Department. She loves medieval history, Argentine tango, birding, kayaking, and traveling to exotic locales.
