173. The members of the A-bomb club showed remarkable restraint in 1959. Out of respect for the International Geophysical Year, there were no nuclear weapon tests the entire year. In 1960 there was only one test, the first A-bomb built by France, named “Blue Jerboa.” Oddly, they set it off in the middle of the Algerian Sahara, as the Algerian War raged all around.
