The Second Book of Chronicles covers a period of more than four hundred years. With some additions and omissions, it closely parallels the narrative in Kings—from the opening of the reign of king Solomon (Kings I, 2:12), through the ever increasing apostasy of Judah and Israel interrupted only by brief periods of reform, to the final destruction of Jerusalem and the deportation of its people to be captives in Babylon (Kings II, 25:11).
