Chapter Three

I watch as the most gorgeous girl walks away from the crowd of cowboys standing near me. What the fuck is wrong with me? Go after her. But I just watch her walk away. She wouldn’t want a clown anyway; they always go for the riders. Fucking bull riders.

There are five other guys standing around, each whistling, shouting at the girls, and pushing Sam, saying go get her.

It’s only been a few months since Rebecca broke my heart and walked out. I can’t go through that again. I don’t know if a rodeo man should have a woman in his life. It seems like that’s the normal thing to do, but most women don’t understand the lifestyle.

I work in rodeos all over the country. I’ve got rodeos every weekend or so from May to October in some towns across America. That’s no life for a woman. I’m hardly home until rodeo season is over.

I pick up my gear, say bye to the other cowboys, and head out.

I’ll head home tomorrow. I’ve got several rodeos in Texas this year, which is nice. It’s close to home.
