Having gained an understanding of the core features of GlusterFS, we can now define the different types of volumes that GlusterFS provides. This will help in the next chapters as we dive into the actual design of a GlusterFS solution.
GlusterFS provides the flexibility of choosing the type of volume that best suits the needs of the workload; for example, for a high-availability requirement, we can use replicated volume. This type of volume replicates the data between two or more nodes, resulting in exact copies of each of the nodes.
Let's quickly list the types of volumes that are available, and later, we'll discuss each of their advantages and disadvantages:
- Distributed
- Replicated

- Dispersed
