On a forestry trail about a kilometre up the hill he sat in the car and stared at what had been an abandoned house for most of the year, but now there was a girl standing at the back door. He could see her face clearly through the old binoculars. Cup of coffee in hand, short shorts, and a tiny top. He gasped and accidentally put his foot down on the brake. He swore to himself, imagining how easy it would have been for her to see the flash from the brake light. Now lifting the binoculars back to his eyes, he took one long last look at her face. It couldn’t be true.

“Holy Shit.”

He started up the car and headed off into the night.
