Introduction

Willie LeBeaux makes his way from a small town in South Georgia trying to escape the demons of a troubled past. His quest takes him to the mean streets of post 911 New York City where he, like many, embarks upon the search for that big break. Being witness to something that seemed unusual, he discloses the news and actually saves the life of Ozwald Jenkins, or Oz, as he’s known on the streets. Oz happens to be the key figure of a notorious crime family; controlling illicit activities throughout the five boroughs. The family boss befriends his adopted pupil who detests the life but, by default, learns to thrive in the ruthless underworld he’s destined to one day inherit, though, harbors no desire to have. That creates a challenging issue for Jerome, the ousted former second in command, who has his sights set on assuming Oz’s throne in the relatively near future. Circumstances are more complicated when Willie unwisely becomes romantically involved with NYPD Officer Ernestina Lady. He enjoys spending time with her but knows the true nature of his “business activities” can never be disclosed.

As if he’s not having enough trouble manipulating the unfortunate cards life has dealt him, Willie then has to contend with the unexpected arrival of Tammy. She’s a closer-than-comfortable cousin who travels from Georgia and shows up at LaGuardia Airport without notice to surprise him. Willie is shuffled back and forth physically, psychologically, and emotionally between the life he desires and the one he’s forced to live. All while trying to overcome obstacles constantly thrown in his scripted path.
