The drive-in reopened on Memorial Day weekend. We restocked the snack shack with junk food, paper cups and straws, paper towels, toilet paper, and pizza.
There was one new addition—the meadow picture of Winnie and me that Carl mounted on the wall behind the cash register.
Marty asked me to record the phone message for the season. The end of the recording meant something special to me: “Tuesday night is only four dollars a car, because it’s family night at the Blue Moon.”
That’s because it’s my family now. Even though I don’t understand everything that happened, I think God knew what He was doing. He heard me when I was in trouble, just like Marty said. And when I lost my parents, He had another family waiting to love me. Marty said I have to trust Him to work things out for me. When I compare it to my way of working things out, I think it’s way better to let Him do it.
