I’ve always embraced the philosophy that there should unfailingly be something especially delicious to eat in the house. If not actually sitting in readiness on the shelf, then ingredients on hand to prepare something at short notice.
It is far better to make your own snack foods than to buy additive-laden snacks that adorn supermarket shelves in abundance these days. Whether or not these additives do harm is a hot topic, of course, but I would rather my family not be exposed to them as I strongly suspect they don’t do us a lot of good.
