Anxiety

For You to Know

Feeling anxiety is a normal part of life. It can be very important, but it does not always help us reach our goals.

Anxiety sometimes tells us that we are in danger. If you are about to jump from a really high place, you probably feel anxiety. This is your brain’s way of telling you that this might not be a good idea and that you could get hurt. In situations like this, it is important to listen to your anxiety; it is helping you keep safe. Feeling butterflies in your stomach when taking a test is a sign of anxiety that actually helps you focus and do your best.

Anxiety is not always helpful. Sometimes it can be so big that you freeze in your tracks when there is actually no danger. For example, if you feel anxiety right before your school concert and think you can’t go on stage, you are going to miss out on having fun during your concert.

It is important to get to know what your anxiety feels like so you can learn to tell the difference between anxiety that is helping you and anxiety that is stopping you from being great or having fun.Don’t Let Your Emotions Run Your Life for Kids
