For You to Do

Accepting that different people have different views, values, and goals may be a hard thing for you to notice and change. Many adults have a difficult time with this, and they have been practicing for years. Try the following two exercises to practice this way of thinking.

Imagine a person you have a disagreement with; for example, a friend you were mad at or a sibling who used your things without asking. Imagine understanding why that person feels or thinks the way he or she does. Write down your ideas here:

Practice describing your day by listing just the facts, like the ones you just read about in the cat-and-mouse story. Notice how hard it is to not describe things as good or bad, right or wrong. Write down what you notice about this here:
