Theoretically, today was a recreation day, but you could have fooled me as I worked exactly the same as usual.
We are now in time zone Oscar, three hours behind Britain, and, like most of the ship’s company I have now started taking Stugeron tablets on a regular basis. Though I did not feel seasick before starting, the weather is going to get a hell of a lot worse before it gets any better, and there is really no point in risking suffering when all I have to do to stop it is swallow a pill or two.
We had an unscheduled helicopter flight this afternoon, when we sent a Casevac Sea King over to Brambleleaf, the tanker, whose First Officer was either ill or injured – further details are not available at present – and he is now in our Sick Bay.
Further to the last paragraph, it seems that the casualty suffered what can basically be described a stabbing injury, caused by a bolt of some sort, in his, not to put too fine a point on it, bum. The docs operated on him this evening, and he is now described as ‘comfortable’. If he is, he’s about the only person on the ship who is, as it really is getting quite rough.
The evening Wardroom film was ‘Airplane’, and I watched it yet again – I know I saw it last night, but that in no way spoiled my enjoyment of it again this evening.
Let’s face it – I’m easily pleased.
