Ancellians: a species of long lived (15,000 years) beings whose home world was Ancellia before they were wiped out and the planet stolen by the Wizards of the Rebellion. Called the Dragon Lords, humans only know of one sect, the Crimson Eyrie although the Ancellian mythology speaks of a long running war between the Crimson and the Cobalt Eyries

 

armored exoskeleton battle suit: an automated full-body armor worn by both the Royalists and the Rebels

 

artillery drone: remote controlled robotic drone used by the artillery units to track and range in targets

 

Bruce Foster: human general (1st Order officer) of the Rebel forces on the planet Perdition

 

Cilla: a fortune-teller on the planet Prime

 

Cobalt Eyrie: a subspecies of Ancellian, sworn enemy to the Crimson Eyrie from the time before humans

 

Crimson Eyrie: a subspecies of Ancellian

 

Draggo: navigator’s assistant on the smuggler starship The Golden Newt, captained by the lizard, Luca – one of Red Moon’s alternate identities

 

Dragon Master: The beings, suspected of being members of the Cobalt Eyrie, who style themselves as sorcerers and who used the inherent weakness in the Ancellian species to destroy the Crimson Eyrie

 

Dragonstone: a form of hibernation state assumed by the female Ancellians; prized for its energetic properties and used as a power source in the reactors of those whose technology is advanced enough to use them

 

Eliar of Gar: Taurok’s brother

 

Hall of Inerod: the mythological place where the Gods of War reside and where all warriors and worshipers of the Gods of War go after they die

 

Harbinger: Egg Keeper; Red Moon’s cousin; the last surviving male of the Crimson Eyrie, he was left by the last queen to guard the egg containing Red Moon

 

hedge witch: the last of the practitioners of the old magic; killed off by the Rebel Wizards for fear they would un-make their magic after Red Moon's sleeping dragonstone sucked all the magic from the known universe, leaving all the witches defenseless

 

Hellsinc: capital city of the planet Perdition destroyed by the giant crater in the last battle of the Rebel-Royalist war

 

Jik Don Pu: one of Red Moon’s spy identities; used by her alternate identity of Draggo when she gathers intelligence for her captain, Luca; Jik is from a planet called Herndin Four, a place inhabited by the ancestors of the asexual mer Second People, the Bhrintons

 

Leto: a hollow ice moon orbiting the gas giant, Ludado; located in the Bados system, where there are no habitable planets; Leto is also the name of the Ancellian AI inside the moon

 

Luca: Captain of the Golden Newt; Ganterran, a tall rough-skinned lizard species. Red Moon; under the name Draggo, sits 2nd chair in navigation

 

Prime: the origin planet for all Ancellians and the site where the Royal palace is built and where the Rebellion government now resides

 

Rebels: that faction of Ancellian dominated space who joined a revolt against the autocratic rule of this ancient species, and whose leadership is nearly all human

 

Red Moon: the last female in existence from the Crimson Eyre, which makes her automatically the queen who controls the male ascension to the throne through mating; she has many human identities: Vengeance, the child who stepped out of Harbinger's egg; Far Ranger’s Assassin, his far-seeing assassin body guard; Jik Don Pu, from a planet called Herndin Four, a place inhabited by the ancestors of the asexual mer Second People, the Bhrintons; Svetina, daughter to the hedge witch, Taliba

 

Royalists: those who still back the Royal House of the Crimson Eyrie

 

Taliba: human hedge witch who adopted Red Moon on the planet Finn’s End; styling herself a gypsy, she is Red Moon’s first teacher; Taliba lives on Shipper’s Row in the city of Brandal, whose star, a golden sun, is called Aurin

 

Taurok of Gar: Sergeant, 3rd Artillery Battalion of the Royalist army; Zendalian warrior whose race lives to be 500 years old; From the planet Zendal, one of the first planets to be culled by the Rebel Republic because they refused to recant their oaths of loyalty to the Crimson Eyrie, fueling the rumor that the Rebels were trying to purge the universe of tainted humans who are the result of cross-beading with people of the Twelve Tribes

 

Thought Police: a branch of the Rebel Republic government who monitor the social networks and media, and round up any who express opinions counter to the party line

 

Truthsayer: a member of the priesthood who practices soothsaying using tarot cards, has the ability to read people, and uses the alter-dimensional machines given to them by the Wizards; not magical

 

Vengeance: the Ancellian female who stepped out of Harbinger’s egg

 

witchlight: a bit of true magic craft that does not require machines to produce, used by the hedge witches who can trace their skills at magic back to the Ancellian magic schools

 

Wizard: derogatory term referring to the enhanced humans connected to the Ancellian AI buried in the heart of the moon called Leto; Wizard is an ironic term, as they know no true magic but use machines and alter-dimensional beings to power their work

 

wormlight: a small container filled with bio-luminescent caterpillars who emit a blue light when disturbed
