This is the final collection of stories based on our Reign of the Eagle series, which started with the release of Black Eagle Rising in March of 2022. These are the stories that tie in with the last book in the series, A Troubled Peace, which came out in October of 2023. In a year and a half, we put out six novels and thirty-three short stories (counting the ones in this collection).
All these stories can be read on their own, but we designed them to introduce (or reintroduce, in some cases) the main characters from the novel. If you like the stories, and you find the characters interesting, you’ll definitely want to check out A Troubled Peace and the five previous novels in the series, which are available worldwide from any reputable purveyor of fine ebooks.
You might also like to check out our previous series, Of Duty and Silver, which involves many of the same characters. That series is not only available as ebooks, but also as physical, print-on-demand paperbacks. Trust us, they would look very fine on your shelf, or on the shelf of any fantasy reader in your life.
As always, we like to have a little value added for our short story collections. So, although four of these stories have appeared previously (first in our newsletter, then on our website), there’s a special bonus story, “Even a Cat,” featuring the ever-popular Muriel Gramiren. (People familiar with Gone With the Wind, either the novel or the movie, will probably recognize the allusion in the title. And yes, it applies to Muriel every bit as much as it ever applied to Scarlett O’Hara.)
There’s also a map of the Immani resort city of Teperum, an important location in A Troubled Peace (and in The Last Bright Angel, the final book in our previous Of Duty and Silver series).
