Taco Seasoning

It’s always best to make your own taco seasoning because most of the store-bought brands contain sugar. The cocoa powder adds a depth of flavor without a prominent taste of chocolate. It’s the secret ingredient!

Makes 2¼ tablespoons (2 servings)

In a small bowl, mix together all the ingredients. The seasoning keeps in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 12 months.

Note: To make a large batch to keep on hand, increase the amounts of ingredients as follows: ¼ cup chili powder, 4 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon ground cumin, 2 teaspoons salt, 2 teaspoons dried oregano, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon onion powder. This makes about 6 tablespoons seasoning.
