In the previous chapter on the history of numerology, I touched the three major forms of numerology. However, just like I mentioned earlier, there are multiple methods of practicing numerology, with each method having its own peculiarities. In this chapter, I will intimate you on the Alphabetic systems, Pythagorean, Chaldean, Abjad, and mahadasha systems of numerology. I will conclude the chapter by comparing Chinese and Western numerology, and the connection numerology has to Astrology and Tarot.
Skeptics may say that the fact that there are different methods of practicing numerology shows that it is a false practice. If you observe carefully, the alphabets are 28 in all. Each of these alphabets has a numerical value attached to it. This system of numerology has been in existence before the eight century. Abjad was actually derived from the first four letters of the Semitic Alphabet (A, B, J, D). These letters are also the first four in the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Phoenician alphabets.
The Abjad system is an alphabetic system. Hence, the essence of the numbers attached to the alphabets is to have a deeper understanding of an individual. The numbers that are attached to your full name as seen in your birth certificate will be added together systematically to obtain a name number. For example, if your name on your birth certificate is Anthony Martial Lionel, your name number will be obtained as follows:
Anthony = 1 + 5 + 2 + 8 + 6 + 5 + 7 = 34
Martial = 4 + 1 + 9 + 2 + 9 + 1 + 3 = 29
Lionel = 3 + 9 + 6 + 5 + 5 + 3 = 31
Anthony Martial Lionel = 34 + 29 + 31 = 94
Name number = 9 + 4 = 13 = 1 + 3 = 4
From the above calculations, the name number for an individual whose name is Anthony Martial Lionel is 5. If Anthony Martial Lionel decides to alter some part of his name, this will lead to a new number name. The initial number name is used to explain part of his life. Hence, an alteration will lead to alteration is some aspects of the individual's life.
In the Pythagorean system, your birth date is seen as an extension of your personality. Hence, it is also calculated to obtain a single digit. The number obtained from your birth date is used to unveil the talents or personality traits you wish you possess. This number shows the personality traits you possess but does not exhibit to the world.

Number 2 is attached to the letters b, r, and k; 3 is attached to g, c, l, s; 4 is attached to d, m, t; 5 is assigned to e, h, n, x; 6 is attached to u, v, w; 7 is assigned to o and z; and 8 is attached to the letters f and p.
Hence, in the example of Anthony Martial Lionel, the name number that will be derived in the Chaldean system will be different from the one that will be derived from the Pythagorean system. However, this does not mean that the answer you will get from a Pythagorean numerologist will be significantly different from what is obtainable with a Chaldean numerologist.
Just like the Pythagorean system, the master numbers 11, 22, and 33 are also recognized and not altered. In other words, just like the Pythagorean system, if your birth name is 11, 22, or 33, it will not be reduced to a single digit. In this system, your first name shows the personality you present to the public. It also reveals your habits and personal interests.

Chinese vs. Western Numerology
