Va-Va-Voom

My edges blur and I am absolutely

out of my mind

over losing my focus.

At the kitchen counter

Mom looks me up and down,

tells me, “Okay, honey,

you have put on

the right amount of weight.

You can stop gaining now.”

And I smile weakly

run to my room

close myself inside,

dive on my bed and

weep because

I know I

can’t.
