Laurie Boyle Crompton is a screenwriter and the author of six young adult novels, including Pretty in Punxsutawney, a 2020 ALA Quick Pick for Reluctant Readers. She graduated from St. John’s University with a BA in English and journalism, has written for national magazines, survived a teaching stint at an all-boys high school, and appeared on Good Day New York as a professional toy expert. Laurie loves speaking to teen and young adult audiences about media awareness and body image in high schools, colleges, and churches. She lives in Queens, New York, with her husband, two children, and three dogs. When she’s not writing, Laurie can be found walking barefoot in the grass, biking through the forest or on TV and movie sets in and around NYC where she works as a background artist. She remains committed to spreading the word that advertising sucks and chubby thighs are positively lovely.
The Denim Diaries is Laurie’s first nonfiction title.
