Chapter Three

I can’t wait for reception to be over, but I remind myself not to rush this. Everyone is here to congratulate us, give their well-wishes.

Everything unfolds like a dream. Hand-in-hand we walk into a ballroom, decorated to perfection in silver and violet. We partake in our first dance, seeing only each other. My mom cuts in and Alec graciously hands me over—for a little bit.

“I need him back,” Alec tells my mom.

Once we’re alone, my mom looks me in the eye. “You’re looking much better Tristan, like you’re finally enjoying yourself.”

“I am. I worried for nothing.” I flash her a reassuring smile. For the first time that day, she beams, nodding.

“Don’t forget your dad and me.” She kisses me on the cheek and hands me back to Alec.

“Had a good talk?” Alec asks.

I lean my head against his broad chest, sensing his surprise, but he quickly covers it up. Alec strokes my back and I sigh contently against him, not hearing the music or the conversations around us.

All that matters is us and this beautiful perfect moment I’ll look back on with fondness—five, ten, twenty years—and more, from now.

I never expect to laugh and cry in a single day. Guests greet us, members from both our packs, and visitors, allies and enemies. I pride myself on acting accordingly as an Alpha’s mate.

“Well done, pet,” Alec whispers in my ear, his words filling me with pride.

I enjoy dinner, dessert, the conversation after. Time passes by so smoothly, the next thing I realize, we’re standing by the huge white wedding cake. Time for the cutting, and after, Alec says we’re leaving.

Finally! Although I want to relish every moment, I can’t wait to have him alone to myself.

“You don’t deserve him.”

I think I imagine the words at first, something from the hesitant part of my mind, but the anomaly repeats them.

“Omega, you don’t deserve him. He’s mine.”

Alec turns his head, nostrils flaring. My wolf warns me of danger. The crowd begins to murmur and parts way for an angry man in his late twenties, walking up to us. One sniff tells me he’s another werewolf, he smells of Alec’s pack, but not. Confusing, but what worries me is the hunting rifle he’s pointing at Alec.

Why Salvatore and the rest of Alec’s wolves don’t intervene, I understand a second later. The angry stranger’s wearing something bulky underneath. The flaps of the man’s blaze blow aside and my breath catches, seeing the explosives strapped to his chest. I don’t need to be a genius to figure out the gun carries silver. The suicide vest, I’m uncertain of. We werewolves are made of sterner stuff, but I’m not sure we can survive a direct blast.

“Jason, put the gun down. This is madness,” Alec says, eyes and voice hard.

“Who the fuck is Jason?” I demand, not liking the frustration and anger in Alec’s voice.

“No one.” Alec’s gaze meets mine. “He’s one-night-stand who thought more of himself. The pack kicked him out months ago. Jason likes offering himself to any dominant wolf in the hopes one will mate him.”

“That makes me feel a lot better, I think.”

“You have nothing to be worried about pet.”

“That’s not reassuring, Alpha.”

“Shut up. All of you, I’ll shoot,” Jason yells, eyes wild.

His gaze finds mine and his lips curl to an ugly sneer. When he shifts the gun to me, relief fills me. I didn’t want to die, but better me than my husband. Alec’s life is more important than mine. He’s Alpha of both our packs now.

“No you won’t. Jason, look at me,” Alec’s firm voice cuts across the crowd.

Alec doesn’t shout. He hardly needs to. Jason tears his gaze from me to look him in the eye, but he’s the firs to look away. Hands shaking, Jason grips the handle of the gun with both hands. The gun roars and Alec pulls me in his arms, turning his back, using himself as a shield. I squirm in his arms, wanting to check if he’s okay.

“Everything’s fine, pet. Nothing to worry about,” Alec says in a soothing and quiet voice only I can hear.

When we rise to our feet, I spy Salvatore, who apparently tackled Jason in the ground. The gun lies near our feet. Alec plucks the weapon, distaste clearly writ on his face. He hands it to one of his wolves to dispose of. I watch Salvatore push Jason out the wedding doors.

“What’s going to happen to him?” I can’t help but ask Alec.

Alec shrugs. “If he’s wise, he’ll never show his face in our territory again.”

I don’t miss the fact Alec says the word ‘our’ instead of ‘my’. I like it, the way he views us as equals, even though I’m glad to serve at his feet.

“I think that’s enough excitement for the day. We’re making our farewells,” Alec decides.

“But the cake looks delicious,” I protest.

Alec gives me a wary look.

“Do you really like to taste the cake, or are you afraid of what’s going to happen behind closed doors.”

I lean in close, surprising both of us.

“Alpha, I’ve been preparing for so long for this night. I’m more than ready for you, but I want to savor every moment of our wedding, including the cake.”

“Very well, pet.”

Alec gets a generous slice for me and feeds me bits. Once I declare myself satisfied, Alec sweeps me into his arm. I let out a squeak, wrapping my arms around his neck, but I know dropping me is the last thing Alec will do. His massive arms easily support me, like I don’t weigh a thing. Shifters give us winks, grins and some make crude jokes. It’s all in good form. Alec bids my parents a good evening and we’re walking out of the ball room.

We encounter no one on the way to the elevator.

“The keycard’s in my left breast pocket,” Alec tells me.

I fish the card and swipe it on the panel. The lift takes us all the way up to the penthouse suite. Of course, nothing less for Alec and I’m beginning to immensely enjoy myself despite our near brush with death.

“I hope that little incident didn’t affect you too much,” Alec says.

“If I’m the mate to the Alpha of the largest pack in the region, of course I need to possess steel in my spine.”

Alec chuckles.

“Oh I know, pet. I’ve known what you were since the first time we met.”

“What am I?”

“That you were made for me.”

Startled into silence, I’m unable to formulate a response. It no longer matters, because the elevator reaches the top and Alec carries me inside the suite. Petals line the path from the elevator to the bed.

Once Alec claims me and we’re both sated, I’ll retrace the steps he’s taken and feel the soft silken texture of the petals underneath my feet.

“Scared?” Alec asks.

“Very, but I’m excited too.”

Alec kisses me on the brow and places me gently on the edge of a king-sized bed. He leans in, I assume for a kiss, but I’m wrong. I pout when he merely unbuttons the top of my dress shirt, then moves to the next, until he reveals more flesh. I’m nowhere near naked, yet Alec is able to undress me with his eyes.

“I’m going to unwrap you slowly like a present, pet.”

Alec sits beside on the bed. With deftness and gentleness I don’t expect, he takes off my suit and peels away my unbuttoned shirt. I rise to my feet, stand between his legs as he unzips my fly, eye brows lifting at what I’m wearing underneath.

“Oh?”

“Come see my surprise, Alpha.”

Smirking, Alec yanks my trousers down, exposing the tiny red g-string I’m wearing and the bulge the thin piece of cloth barely covers.

“Very nice, pet.”

I can’t help myself. I blush, never before feeling so exposed as I did at that moment.

“May I?” I reach for his white tie, undoing it.

Feeling bold, I perch on his lap, straddling him. I remember thinking the wild young man reflected in the car mirror is me. Alec’s here to take my purity, but I won’t lie still like corpse. I want to show him I burn with a fire inside me, with a passion that equals his. Each inch of copper skin I unveil, I kiss.

Alec holds my back steady, like he did the way in the limo. Unlike the car ride to the reception though, nothing will stop us now.

Reaching his trousers, I get off his lap and kneel between his legs. Alec helps me along and kicks away his bottoms and trousers. This feels right, me serving my husband on my knees and Alec’s fingers in my hair.

I lick myself at the sight of dick, long, thick and curving. Even though I’ve seen it once, I remain daunted. Securing my hand over his base, I put my mouth to his tip, licking away the pre-cum. Alec groans and I draw a circle around his cock head. One tug on my hair and I cease playing. Alec nudges his shaft between my lips and I open up for him.

Sucking hard, I keep my gaze on him, knowing he likes me keeping eye contact. I bob my head up and down, silently praising myself for not gagging on his huge length. Moments later, Alec tightens his hold on my hair. Understanding, I let Alec take over. He fucks my mouth, strokes steady and with a frustrated growl, he pulls away.

“I need to finish in you now, Tristan.”

With a jolt, I realize Alec calls me by name. I smile up at him, full of trust.

“How do you want me?”
