ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Mike Yorkey, the author or coauthor of more than seventy books, has written about sports all his life for a variety of national sports publications and book publishers. He has collaborated with Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy and his father, Brad, in Growing Up Colt; San Francisco Giants pitcher Dave Dravecky (Called Up and Play Ball), tennis stars Michael Chang (Holding Serve) and Betsy McCormack (In His Court), and San Diego Chargers placekicker Rolf Benirschke (Alive & Kicking).

His most recent sports book is Playing with Purpose: Inside the Lives and Faith of the Major League’s Top Players (with Jesse Florea and Joshua Cooley), which released with the start of the 2012 baseball season. He also authored Playing with Purpose: Inside the Lives and Faith of Top NBA Stars in 2011 and Playing with Purpose: Inside the Lives and Faith of the NFL’s Top New Quarterbacks — Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, and Tim Tebow in 2010.

Yorkey, who graduated from the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism, is a former editor of Focus on the Family magazine who has also written for sports magazines such as Skiing, Tennis, and Breakaway. He is also a novelist, and his latest fiction effort is Chasing Mona Lisa, a World War II thriller he coauthored with Tricia Goyer.

He and his wife, Nicole, are the parents of two adult children, Andrea and Patrick. Mike and Nicole make their home in Encinitas, California, and his website is www.mikeyorkey.com.
