Milkshakes

Even if your kids are not big on eating fruit or drinking milk on its own, they should enjoy drinking one of these fruity options. In fact, most adults I know love them too. Decorate with extra fruit, maple syrup or honey, if you like.

EACH ONE MAKES 2 large or 4 small shakes

PREPARATION TIME 3 minutes

STRAWBERRY OR RASPBERRY SHAKE

400ml/14fl oz/scant 1¾ cups milk

200g/7oz/11/3 cups strawberries or raspberries, stalks removed

½ tsp vanilla extract

4–6 ice cubes

clear honey or maple syrup, to taste (optional)

 

1 Pour the milk into a blender. Add the fruit, vanilla extract and ice cubes and whizz for 30–45 seconds until smooth. Add honey or maple syrup to taste, if you like.

2 Strain into glasses to remove any pips or chunks of ice and serve.
